CAIN is a reimagined ballet-opera that will premiere at the Marigny Opera House in September 2026. The music is a resurrection of the 1707 oratorio “Caino, overo il primo omicidio” by Alessandro Scarlatti – one of the most celebrated composers of the Baroque era. This virtually unknown baroque gem will take on new life as a fully staged ballet-opera, reworked and directed by the Marigny Opera Ballet’s new Artistic Director Bogdan Mynka and original choreography by Resident Choreographer Amalia Najera, bringing together some of New Orleans’ finest dancers, designers, musicians, singers, and storytellers, as well as select talent from around the world.
