Autumn Dominguez presents A Birthday Tribute to Lee KonitzCelebrate the life and music of legendary jazz alto saxophonist Lee Konitz with New Orleans--based saxophonist, vocalist, composer, arranger, bandleader, and educator Autumn Dominguez. Originally from Prescott, Arizona, Dominguez is known for her dynamic performances and genre-blending original work. She has performed with Gabrielle Cavassa, the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, Branden Lewis of Preservation Hall, and Ashlin Parker's Trumpet Mafia, while also leading her own projects and composing for dance and ensemble. A pioneering figure of cool jazz, Konitz developed a distinctive, highly personal approach to improvisation that influenced generations of musicians. His remarkable career spanned more than seven decades and included collaborations with Lennie Tristano, Miles Davis, Gil Evans, and Stan Kenton. For this special birthday tribute, Dominguez brings together a talented ensemble of New Orleans musicians to celebrate Konitz's innovative spirit and enduring musical legacy through his compositions and recordings.
