His powerful drumming and commitment to mentoring young musicians helped shape generations of jazz artists. Leading an all-star New Orleans ensemble, Watkins brings Blakey's spirit of swing, groove, and musical mentorship to the stage. A versatile and highly respected drummer, Watkins has performed with Delfeayo Marsalis & the Uptown Jazz Orchestra, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Eric Benét, Ledisi, and other acclaimed artists. He is also a dedicated educator and mentor at the Ellis Marsalis Center for Music, continuing Blakey's tradition of nurturing the next generation of jazz musicians. In order to preserve the integrity, quiet and focus of our world class intimate concerts, only the charcuterie, cocktails and soft drinks are available for table service inside the Music Room. However, we encourage you to arrive at least 90 Minutes prior to your showtime in order to enjoy full, relaxing dinner service in the Dining Room right next door, before getting seated in the Music Room for your ticketed showtime.
